At United Disciples of Christ, we believe in faith based on reason. We celebrate that each person can study and read scripture for themselves. We encourage critical and thoughtful study of scripture taking into account the context in which it was written. We believe that all Christians should be free to read and interpret the Bible for themselves, and that one’s relationship to God grows and develops through prayer, study, worship, service, and being in community with others. As such, here are some ways we encourage those opportunities:
Faith formation
Every Sunday morning, small groups meet to engage in Bible Study, discussions on topic of their choice, contemporary book study, video series discussions, or spirituality art classes.
Our current faith formation classes are:
Bible Study (led by Don Hamm)
Art and Spirituality (led by Rosetta Smith)
Book discussion of Stars Beneath Us: Finding God in the Evolving Cosmos (led by Allan Seaman)

Class series
United Disciples of Christ offers a wide variety of classes to help formulate faith and deepen Christian spirituality. The classes that we offer can extend your knowledge of Christianity, whether you are new to the Christian faith or have been involved for many years. We believe that the classes offered not only strengthen your relationship with God, but with fellow members of the congregation.

- Painting Disciples
We are offering a painting class for adults on varying Mondays from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at the church. You do not have to have experience to take this class, because you will learn all the basics you need to further your painting skills. A donation of $5/class is suggested to cover supplies. - The Five Love Languages
In this class you will read the book The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman and attend a weekly 90 minute class. We will discuss ways that we can better deepen our relationship by meeting our significant other's love language and expressing what we desire to have our own needs met. There are a total of 7 classes. We offer these classes three ways: for couples, for singles, and for parents. - Spiritual Gifts Class
The Spiritual Gifts class is designed to help individuals discern the unique way that God has gifted them so that they may experience greater joy as they live out their life of faith. In this class, participants will discover the nature of spiritual gifts and gain a greater understanding of what constitutes a spiritual gift and what does not. Participants complete an assessment to discern the gifts that God has given them. They will openly discuss their understanding of each spiritual gift as it grows, and discover ways in which they can begin to live into the gifts that God has given them. This is a 90 minute class that lasts 6 weeks. - Experiencing God
The Experiencing God class is designed to help participants understand that God wants a relationship with them that is loving and personal. Participants will learn how to deepen that relationship and come to know and participate in the will of God. In this class, participants will use the book Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing The Will of God by Henry and Richard Blackaby and Claude King. Participants will engage in a 12 week personal and group study. We will meet once a week for a 90-minute class to discuss what participants gleaned from their study and share personal experiences. - Art and Spirituality
In the beginning God created! We are created in God's images to be God-like, therefore, we are all called to create. These classes are designed to empower people to become more comfortable using different art mediums while they experience God and come to know God more deeply. Classes meet every Sunday morning at 9:30am, during our time of Faith Formation. - Bible Study
The Bible Study class is designed to deepen people's understanding of scripture. The participants are given a work book every quarter. Class consists of discussion about the material covered in the book. This class meets every Sunday morning at 9:45am, during our time of Faith Formation. - Book Study
In the Book Study class participants will read a book chosen by the facilitator. They will read any given amount of material each week for discussion. The class meets at 9:45am every Sunday morning, during our time of Faith Formation.
