Good Evening Church Family!

I hope you’re all doing well this evening and preparing for the cooler weather!  Here are your reminders for the week.

Please remember and plan to stay for the Congregational Meeting this Sunday immediately following worship.  The purpose of this meeting is to discuss and vote to accept the revised Constitution and Bylaws of UDoCC.

We will be having a Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday, October 27th.  We need lots and lots of volunteers to help with this Youth Fundraiser.  Please see Rosetta and let her know how you can help.  You may purchase your tickets from Pam Emch.

From the Missions Team:

  1. One Disciples’ mission imperative is to promote healing and create good relationships in communities where there is brokenness.  Through leadership training, education and intentional dialogue, we promote cooperation and advocate for justice and mercy.  The Reconciliation Offering is the only source of funding for this ministry of the Disciples churches.  Grants from this special offering are being used in such places as Ferguson, Missouri; Staten Island, New York; and Baltimore, Maryland.  Won’t you consider a donation to this worthwhile cause?
  2.  The Covenant House Clothing Closet (now called The Back Door) has moved the blue drop-off bins to the back of their location.  They can be found down the alley behind St. John’s Episcopal Church.  The Back Door is especially accepting winter items as well as underwear and socks.
  3. The Pantry always needs certain staples: canned soups; chili, pastas, and stew; canned greens, canned fruits and canned meats; mac and cheese; peanut butter; cereals; and rice.  Please make some of these items a weekly gift.
Special needs this week are the following items:
    Canned greens
    Canned pintos
    Boxed meals
    Canned pasta
    One pound sugar
    Canned meat
    Soup
If you can help with any of these items, please bring them to church on Sunday and place them in the Food Pantry wagon inside the Sanctuary doors.
We are also still collecting individually wrapped snack items for Hubbard Hospice House.

Brenda Crites’ granddaughter, Marisa, is in the SC Youth Challenge Academy.  She is doing well, but could use some love, support and encouragement.  A card or note to let her know that she is being prayed for and supported in her journey would mean so much to her.  If you would like to mail Marisa a card or letter, please mail it to:

Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
