  • We’re going to a WV Power Baseball Game on Sunday, August 19th.  Game time is 2:05 pm and the ticket cost is $8.  It’s Kids’ Day, but everyone is invited to go.  There is a sign-up sheet at the Information Station.  Please sign up ASAP.  Money is due to Patty Igo by August 12th.  She will be available each Sunday to collect your money.
  • We will once again be manning an Aid Station for the Charleston Distance Run on Saturday, September 1st at the corner of Donnally and Court Streets.  Please let Brittany Carowick know if you will be able to volunteer to help!  This is a very fun day and we need lots of volunteers!
  • Hey Ladies!  It’s time to register for the Disciples Women’s Spiritual Life Retreat!  The retreat will be September 7-9th at Cedar Lakes Conference Center in Ripley.  Our keynote speaker this year is the Rev. Dr. Sharon Watkins, our past General Minister and President.  You may register online on the WV Region Website or get a registration form at the Information Station.
  • Brenda Crites’ granddaughter, Marisa, is in the SC Youth Challenge Academy.  She is doing well, but could use some love, support and encouragement.  A card or note to let her know that she is being prayed for and supported in her journey would mean so much to her.  If you would like to mail Marisa a card or letter, please mail it to:

 From the Missions Team:
  1. The Clothing Closet has moved to the small house next to St. John’s Episcopal Church (where Manna Meal is located) on Quarrier Street.  Now named the Back Door, it currently has no drop-off receptacles.  Hours of operation are 12:00-3:00 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, as well as 10:30-1:00 on the first Sunday of the month.  It continues to work with Covenant House to give away clothing to the needy, as well as operate as a thrift store.  You may drop off items at the church and we will deliver them for you.
  2. The Drop-In Center at Covenant House needs travel size containers of soap, shampoo, conditioner and deodorant.
  3. The Clothing Closet needs men’s jeans and tennis shoes.  Socks and underwear for men and women are also needed.  Thank you for your donations!
  4. The Pantry always needs certain staples: canned soups; chili, pastas, and stew; canned greens, canned fruits and canned meats; mac and cheese; peanut butter; cereals; and rice.  Please make some of these items a weekly gift.
Special needs this week are the following items:
    Canned greens
    Lentils
    Canned pintos
    Canned meat
    Canned milk
    Tuna
    Canned pasta
If you can help with any of these items, please bring them to church on Sunday and place them in the Food Pantry wagon inside the Sanctuary doors.
  5. We are also still collecting individually wrapped snack items for Hubbard Hospice House.

Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
